Filing Deadline Calculators

Work out what is due, and when, in about a minute.

Free calculators for the deadlines that catch motor carriers out: the MCS-150 biennial update date hidden in your USDOT number, the IFTA quarterly return, and the Form 2290 heavy vehicle use tax. No account, no plan, no email.

Built for: Motor carriers, owner-operators

What you get

  • MCS-150 due date derived from your USDOT number under 49 CFR 390.19(c): the last two digits set the month and the year parity
  • IFTA quarterly return computed per IFTA Procedures Manual P530, jurisdiction by jurisdiction
  • Form 2290 heavy vehicle use tax by taxable gross weight, including the logging reduction
  • Every calculator is free and public. No account, no plan, nothing stored
  • Show your work: each result explains the rule it applied, so you can check it

How it works

  1. 1

    Pick the calculator you need

Three tools cover the deadlines carriers most often miss: the MCS-150 biennial update, the IFTA quarterly fuel-tax return, and the Form 2290 heavy vehicle use tax. Each lives at its own page under /tools.

  2. 2

Put in what you already know

The MCS-150 tool needs only your USDOT number. IFTA needs your miles and fuel purchases by jurisdiction for the quarter. The 2290 tool needs taxable gross weight and whether the vehicle is used for logging.

  3. 3

Read the answer and the reasoning

You get the number plus the rule that produced it: the FMCSA digit pattern, the P530 tax math, or the weight-category table. The result is something you can check rather than something you have to trust.

  4. 4

File it yourself on the agency portal

Every one of these submissions happens on an FMCSA, IRS, or state portal, and several of those portals do not accept third-party filing at all. We do not file on your behalf and do not claim to.

FAQ

Do you track my deadlines and remind me?
No. These are calculators. You ask, they answer. There is no scheduler watching your USDOT number, nothing stored against your carrier, and nothing that fires as a due date approaches. If a compliance vendor tells you we do that, they are describing a product we have not built.
Do you run my Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse queries?
No. Clearinghouse queries, full at hire and limited annually per driver, are run by the employer or its consortium on FMCSA's own Clearinghouse portal. We have no Clearinghouse integration and do not store query results.
Which filings do the calculators cover today?
MCS-150 biennial update due dates, IFTA quarterly fuel-tax returns, and the Form 2290 heavy vehicle use tax. UCR, IRP and ELD certification are not covered by a calculator today.
Is the tax math current?
The IFTA calculator carries a dated rate matrix and shows you the quarter and source it was built from, so you can see at a glance whether it is current before relying on the figure.
