Premium audits
Workers' comp and general liability audits.
We complete premium audits by email, phone and video. If you received an audit request from us, this page explains what happens and what to send.
Is this request real?
Our requests come by email from our audits address at bindlycompliance.com, with a secure link to upload your records. You do not need an account.
We never ask for a Social Security number or a bank account number by phone.
For policyholders
Got an audit request from us?
Your insurance company set your premium at the start of the policy from estimates, such as your payroll or your sales. A premium audit compares those estimates with what actually happened during the policy. Your insurance company then adjusts the premium, up or down.
Workers' compensation
Records we usually ask for
- Payroll records for the policy period, for every employee, including anyone who left
- Quarterly Forms 941 and your state unemployment wage reports
- Forms W-2, W-3 and 940
- Forms 1099 and 1096, a list of your subcontractors with what you paid each, and their certificates of insurance
- Your general ledger or cash disbursements journal
- A list of officers and owners, with their duties and pay
- A short description of your operations and what each employee does
General liability
Records we usually ask for
- Your sales or receipts for the policy period, by location and type of work if you have more than one
- Sales tax returns, if you file them, and your federal tax return
- Invoices or job cost records for work you subcontracted, and your subcontractors' certificates of insurance
- A profit and loss statement or general ledger
- For some kinds of business: square footage, unit counts or attendance records
Your request lists exactly what we need for your policy. These are the usual ones.
What happens next
From your records to your insurance company.
Step 1
You send your records
Upload them through the secure link in our email. You do not need an account.
Step 2
We review them
If something is missing or unclear, we email or call you with a specific question.
Step 3
We report to your insurer
The audit report goes to your insurance company, which decides any change to your premium.
Step 4
Your insurer bills or refunds
Any extra premium or refund comes from your insurance company, not from us.
